St Edmundsbury Masonic Hall

The historic lodge of The Royal St Edmunds celebrate over 150 years in style in their newly renovated premises, complete with state-of –the-art energy efficient systems installed by Pitkin & Ruddock Ltd.

Ashlar House, Bury St Edmunds is home to this Provincial Grand Lodge of Suffolk Freemasons, whose values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Freemasonry teaches concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need and members are constantly fundraising in support of local charities.
As part of the Ashlar house redevelopment The Grand Lodge’s new function suite would be used for all types of external gatherings, from weddings and parties to conferences and exhibitions. As such the project required a modern looking system that complemented the attractive building and internal space. Pitkin & Ruddock was asked to design and install an energy efficient system that could provide domestic hot water, ventilation, heating and cooling.

It was essential to work closely with both the customer and local building contractor to deliver an energy efficient solution to the buildings heating and cooling demands. Our specification included a Daikin VRV-IV air-conditioning system, which can continue to produce heat whilst defrosting on those cold mornings and three large Daikin VAM energy saving heat recovery systems to manage the mechanical fresh air ventilation. The VAM system prevents energy losses from over-ventilation while maintaining indoor air quality via its technically advanced CO2 sensor. For the domestic hot water a Daikin Altherma Low temperature Monobloc system was installed, it’s perfectly suited for their requirements, combining all the main hydraulic components in a single low noise outdoor unit.

The installation was of the usual high standard from Pitkin & Ruddock, much of which could be seen by the end user. The majority of indoor units were of a cassette style and the heat recovery ventilation grilles were power coated as to blend in to the surroundings. Our specialist trained installation engineers completed the work on time and within budget whilst working alongside other trades people. We’ll also be providing ongoing maintenance to keep the systems clean, efficient and working optimally.
Our customer was delighted, Bob Heavisides, from Suffolk Freemasons, took the time to write in and thank our staff: ‘I would like to thank Pitkin & Ruddock for a fantastic job. We are extremely happy with the installation, which operates perfectly.’

Pitkin & Ruddock has a vast experience of commercial premises refurbishment and are able to offer state-of-the-art technology that will provide long term efficiency and subsequent lower running costs, with the added comfort of a five year warranty for this equipment when maintained by our skilled maintenance department.
